Our cherished friends, the Muhlesteins have just accepted a Senior Couple Missionary assignment to Berlin, Germany. We are so excited for them. Elder Muhlestein served in the same German mission as Elder Flynn when they were in their early 20's so he already knows the language and Sister Muhlestein will catch on quickly if she doesn't already know it.
We are also excited for our friends the Smiths who served as our Bountiful Temple coordinator and are now serving a full time mission in Oklahoma. Our friends the Hansens from Idaho who served with us in the California San Francisco Mission have recently became missionaries again, serving in Scotland. We'll enjoy receiving email updates and pictures of their experiences and cheering them along as they embark on the most fabulous adventure of service that one can give during their "golden years" of retirement.
Australia Sydney South Mission has a new Mission Presidency and we had the opportunity to visit with Pres. & Sister Simons and his first counselor, Brother Hopkins and his wife during an informal dinner gathering for the Senior Couples before we depart to the Australia Melbourne West Mission. Pres. & Sister Simons come from America and are talented, energetic, spiritually strong leaders.
Pres. Hopkins and his wife are Australians (but were originally from America and New Zealand. They serving a "live at home" mission which provides so much strength to those who are serving from foreign lands and allows them to have family at home too.
The highlight of serving in Sydney is working with the young missionaries and the investigators. It has been a joy to see these young individuals, mainly from Asia soaking in the Gospel truths. Elder Finger and Van Wagen with their newly Baptized convert. Elder Van Wagen's grandparents served with us in the Bountiful Temple.
We also enjoy P-Day activities with the Elders, this one was at the Grand United Lodge of New South Wales Masonic Center where we had served for 7 months. It was good to see our friends there and to have Chris give us a tour.

I know Sister Muhlstein from the Temple and the Smiths have been our friends for years and live in our Stake. The Church makes the world a very small place :o)
Thank you so much for that wonderful plug for more senior missionaries. We love our service and wouldn't trade this experience for anything else in the world that we could otherwise be doing right now. How great it must be to travel around the country and do so many different things. You are our heros!
