Well, we've been told we are moving back to Melbourne next week. We are replacing the Senior Couple at the PROV (Public Records Office of Victoria) where we first started. At the moment there are no prospects of another Senior Couple coming and since we were inbetween digital projects it was natural for us to be sent there. When we complete our mission there will be no one to man the 3 digital computers in Australia. Unfortunately a lack of Senior Missionaries is happening all over the world. There is a 40% decline of Senior Missionaries going on full time missions.

On our first mission, the California San Francisco Mission, we had 12 Senior Couples and when we arrived on our second mission to the Australia Melbourne West Mission there were 8 Senior Couples or Sister Missionaries and now when we go back there will be only 4 (counting us).
When we started in the Australia Sydney South Mission there were 6 Senior Couples or Sister Missionaries and with us leaving there will be only 1 Senior Couple and 2 Senior Sisters. Senior missionaries are needed! Missionaries love Senior Couples because it brings stability and a "parenting" influence.

Besides they love the extra food and goodies that we make. We do a lot of different kinds of things like digital imaging, family history, office work, proselyting, teaching English, humanitarian work, Temple service, and etc. so that the young missionaries can focus on proselyting. It is a great opportunity and every retired couple and sister should serve a mission. There are a lot of "stay at home" and part time missions 2-3 days a week. We would love to have some of them here in Sydney and in Melbourne.

We hope you accept the invitation to serve a mission. And if you haven't retired yet put a Senior Mission on your to do list, just like my brother Richard has done, who just recently retired! Congratulations Richard! Before you know it you too will be retired. There is no greater way to spend those retirement days than serving on a mission. Time goes quickly by as we can testify as we move onto our last 4 months of our mission. We love the work and so will you!

I enjoyed this post :o) you better be careful, the Brethren will have you speaking at conference.:o)It is hard to believe you will be home so soon. Petersons will be home labor day. My how time flies when you are having fun!!!!!!
Hooray!! for the senior missionary plug! Good job! We second all you said -- the NEED for senior couples is astounding -- THEY ARE NEEDED EVERYWHERE!!!!
If every senior couple knew what we know and what you guys know, the line at the Bishop's office would be LONG with older couples volunteering to serve.
Hey, friends -- GET WITH THE PROGRAM!
