Off to Perth

28 Nov. 2009 - I knew it was time to go because the purple trees were in bloom which meant that summer was almost here. We caught a glimpse of the coast line of South Australia as we flew from Melbourne to Perth. Perth is very flat. Western Australia has beautiful white sandy beaches and aqua blue crystal clear oceans. The Swan river runs through Perth. We visited the famous Fremantle Prison. Perth is a booming town with building everywhere. There doesn't seem to be any economic recession there. Most of the buildings are modern but mingled among the tall buildings are some beautiful old buildings. One of Linda's favorites was London Court an arcade (shopping mall between streets)which felt like we were in the UK. Another interesting building was an exterior wall covered with potted strawberry plants. Miracles occurred as we visited family sites. Michael's cousin, Lesley drove us to see the Church that Reuben Flynn (Michael's father) built. It was the first LDS Church built in Western Australia. Cousins, Lesley & Peter took us to see some Flynn sites. A few wrong turns delayed us by about 30 mins. In so doing we arrived just as the owner of the building (now a home) arrived. She was delighted to meet Michael and invited us in. Of Course attending the Sydney Temple was a real joy. It is here in God's Temple where the sealing work of joining families together takes place.
