Birthdays and Farewells

Birthday Parties were pretty regular at the PROV especially in the later part of Oct. and Nov. Gisela, our faithful and devoted PROV service missionary had her 75th birthday and Michael had his 70th birthday. Gisela hosted a birthday dinner for Michael of fish and chips and a beautiful double chocolate cake with fresh strawberries. Gisela is from Germany and remembers Adolph Hitler coming into their primary school to visit the children. Her deceased husband used to be part of the French Foreign Legion and was the chauffeur for Charles De Gaul. We love hearing her experiences during the war and her adventures of coming to Australia to live. Rosemarie is also from Germany and joined the Church 3 years ago. Through Gisela's loving, cheerful example of the Gospel in action and her faithful visiting teachers and home teachers who would teach Gisela and Rosemarie, Rosemarie invited the missionaries to teach her the Gospel and she came to know the truthfulness of the Lord's Church and teachings. Our time at the PROV has come to a close. Our friends at the PROV gave us a nice farewell tea. Since returning to Victoria in August we have captured about 200,000 digital images of inquests. We have had a lot of help from service missionaries and volunteers. Without them we could not get the project done. A special tribute and thanks goes to Elder & Sister Rasmussen who served at the PROV while we were off to New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, and Sydney. They completed the digitizing of the probates and wills and started the inquest which we worked on these last few months. Our next blog will have to wait until we get home and download our pictures as we will be visiting Michael's relatives and parent's birthplaces in Australia.
