40th Anniversary

In The Family: A Proclamation to the World The First Presidency and the Council of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, solemnly proclaim that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God and that the family is central to the Creator’s plan for the eternal destiny of His children. That husbands and wives have a solemn responsibility to love and care for each other and for their children. “Children are an heritage of the Lord” (Psalm 127:3). Parents have a sacred duty to rear their children in love and righteousness, to provide for their physical and spiritual needs, and to teach them to love and serve one another, observe the commandments of God, and be law-abiding citizens wherever they live. Husbands and wives—mothers and fathers—will be held accountable before God for the discharge of these obligations. The proclamation teaches that “happiness in family life is most likely to be achieved when founded upon the teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ.” The proclamation states that “successful marriages and families are established and maintained on principles of faith, prayer, repentance, forgiveness, respect, love, compassion, work, and wholesome recreational activities.” President Gordon B. Hinckley taught: “When you are married, be fiercely loyal one to another. Selfishness is the great destroyer of happy family life. If you will make your first concern the comfort, the well-being, and the happiness of your companion, sublimating any personal concern to that loftier goal, you will be happy, and your marriage will go on throughout eternity” My husband has taken me to Australia to celebrate our 40 years of marriage. It is a lengthy holiday lasting from our 39th anniversary to half way through our 40th year. We've had many assignments that have taken us from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia to Sydney, New South Wales, Australia with stop overs in New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. Before we return home we plan to also visit Michael's parent's home towns in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia and Perth, Western Australia, Australia. We thank our Heavenly Father for our love, marriage and famiy. We are truely blessed and as we serve the Lord on this Mission to Australia we realize even more deeply the love we have for one another and for our family

Sorry we are late in wishing you a Happy Anniversary. I'm sure it was one to remember being in another Country. Marriage to the right person in the right place (temple) is so important in this life. The blessings and peace this brings into a marriage is wonderful. When both people take into their lives the importance of what you have said, then it goes way beyond this life and into the next. Your love goes on forever. May you be blessed to have each other for a long time here...and certainly forever there.
Love you both,
MarJean and Rich
