You've heard that man's best friend is his dog and so it has been for my parents. Champ was a trusted friend who went faithfully on early morning walks with my dad as he generously picked up people's newspapers and placed them on their door steps. Champ would bark as people came to the door to welcome them to his home. He would lie close to my parents feet when they were in the living room reading, watching TV, or visiting with family or friends and he would raise his head and nod as if he had been included in the conversation and was agreeing with them. He gave them comfort and someone to care for and love.

He filled the lonely space when children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren weren't around. Champ was a true friend and we'll all miss him. We say thank-you and goodbye to a dear friend.

I am sad for your folks, :o( although we do not have a dog or cat I know you become attached to them. I have had a parakeet at different times and cried when they died. Pets do respond to love.
