Victoria Market
Victoria Market - Downtown Melbourne – This is the largest market place we have ever seen. There are 10 huge airplane hangar like structures filled with things to buy – half are produce, meats, deli, etc. the other half are clothes, souvenirs, and toys. We spent 3 hours there and came home with 8 kilograms of hamburger and 4 large roast, fish, (each at least half what it cost at Safeway or Cole Grocery stores and vegetables to feed an army. We got a flat box of tomatoes for $2.00, 3 heads of different kinds of lettuce all for $2.00, a cantaloupe for $.50, 2 med. red onions both for $.40, etc. Luckily one of the Sisters at the Prov had an empty 65cm x 90cm (3 x 4 ft.) box freezer she wasn’t using so she gave it to us. We have it already mostly filled.
