The second half of the day threw us back into the heart of Sydney where preparations for the Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras was in process. The rush of cars, screeching, honking, and impatiently pushing there way to ….? Roads were slowly blocked off, crowds began to assemble, hundreds of people in scanty and strange costumes and attire blackened the walkways and roads. The beauty of the rainbow colors was degraded by its wears. Far above the street, safe from the maddening crowd, we got a sad glimpse of the multitude following the beat of the drum of destruction. Evil prevailed and darkness reigned.
The difference between night and day was more than the sun rising and setting. It was the choice between light and darkness; good and evil. The choices made yesterday determined the outcome of today. Today it is gray and rainy in Sydney but the ray of sunshine in our heart has not been diminished but glows stronger as we attended Church and renewed our Baptismal covenants through partaking of the Sacrament. We were nourished by the good word of God and our faith and testimony in Jesus Christ was strengthened. Jesus taught, I am the light of the world, come follow me.

The Light of Christ
The day’s events began in the city of Carlingsford at the Sydney Temple. We changed into our white clothing and performed proxy Baptisms for those who have passed on without having that opportunity. For many in our group of 31 this was their first time to the Temple because it hadn’t been that long ago that they themselves were baptized into Christ’s Church – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Over 300 names of individuals were completed. The feeling was good as the Spirit of the Lord testified that this work was His work. The peace and happiness we felt as we performed these ordinances in the Temple for these individuals was priceless. It was pure Joy, the light of Christ permeated our very being and our sphere in this part of the universe.

We look forward to the Bountiful Temple reopening this Tuesday 10th. It is nice to get a break but we are ready to return. Your insight into the contrast of "light" and "dark" were startling to say the least. A great days work though :o)
Thanks for giving us insight to your day of brightness and joy as contrasted to the "garish" and darkness and evil of some of the worldliness going on about us. You are a "light" and inspiration to all of us. May God bless you greatly. We send our love.
Beautiful posts...will return again when I have time to read and study. Amazing things in the church, when our children are grown (and as they are growing!) Happy end of April to you...watch for my post later today I hope.
